“PLANNING” INTRODUCTION

  • Planning is the process of thinking about and organising the activities required to achieve a desired goal.
  • It involves the creation and maintenance of a plan.
  • Planning has a specific process necessary for multiple occupations (management and bussiness)
  • In each field there are different types of plans that help companies achieve efficiency and effectiveness . Forecasting is an important aspects of planning .
  • Planning is a fundamental property of an intelligent behaviour.
  • Planning is one of the most important project management and time management and technique.

TYPES OF PLAN

  • Three major types of plans can help managers achieve their organizations goals.
    1. Strategic plan
    2. Tactical plan
    3. Operational plan

(1) STRATEGIC PLAN

  • Strategic planning is an organizational management activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources , strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals, establish agreement around intended outcomes and assess and adjust the organizations.

(2) TACTICAL PLANS

  • Tactical planning takes a company’s strategic plan and sets fourth specific short term actions and plans, usually by company department of function.The tactical planning horizon is shorter than the strategic plan horizon.

(3) OPERATIONAL PLAN

  • An operational plan is a detailed plan used to provide a clear picture of how a team, section or department will contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals.
